How the Group Works
The European Child Group meets regularly online to collaborate, learn, and shape the work of the project. Throughout the year, members build their knowledge on the European Union, children’s rights, advocacy, and campaigning. Through these meetings and their induction sessions, they become familiar with how EU institutions work, how decisions are made, and how young people can influence discussions that affect their lives.
As their knowledge and confidence grow, the group actively contributes to several parts of the project. They help design and prepare campaign activities, share ideas on how to communicate with other children and adults, and provide input on key topics that the network is working on. Their perspectives directly inform the preparation of European‑level events, where they may take part as speakers, facilitators, or contributors to discussions.
These regular exchanges give the children space to shape the project’s direction, co-create activities, and reflect on progress together. Each meeting is guided by the child participation advisor, helping ensure discussions are meaningful, inclusive, and safe for everyone.
Why This Group Matters
The European Child Group ensures that children’s views are embedded at the heart of the project. By participating continuously, learning collectively, and contributing directly to advocacy and events, the group helps make the project more relevant, impactful, and genuinely centered around children’s rights and experiences.
